Challenge

Unsustainable agricultural and livestock practices have significantly reduced biodiversity in the region, where small and medium producers are the most affected by climate change.

Unsustainable agricultural and livestock practices have significantly reduced biodiversity in the region, where small and medium producers are the most affected by climate change.

Considering the context of climate change, the scarcity of resources, demographic growth, contamination, desertification, degradation of arable lands and loss of biodiversity, there is an urgent need to invest in improving the resilience of the agro-systems and / or favouring the transition to new farming systems that make a correct and efficient use of biological and natural resources is urgently needed.

ECHINO-SAFE-MED project will promote environmentally, socially and economically sustainable solutions for livestock farming systems by developing innovative diagnostic tools and assessing new strategies of control for CE in order to improve health, welfare and productivity of sheep as well as animal performance, thus ensuring the agro-livelihood of farmers of Mediterranean areas.
